Hi, I’m Grace! I’m 23 years old, I have two older brothers, and a 5 year old labradoodle named Jackson! I grew up here in Maryland, living in White Hall and then moving to Cockeysville when I was in middle school. For high school, I went to Notre Dame Prep, and then I attended Stevenson University for nursing, graduating in May 2025. I am currently working at Mercy in the Emergency Department. Outside of work and the gym, I like to bake, try new recipes, and walk/hike outside when the weather is nice.
What led you to try CrossFit?
Christine actually did. I played sports and danced growing up, but once I stopped dancing, I found myself with nothing to do. I started going to the gym, but after a few years, I got bored of the same workouts and routine. Christine had joined a Crossfit gym, and I came to a class with her when I visited. To be honest, I hated that first class, but there was something that made me want to go back. Christine had found a Crossfit gym in Towson, and I decided to join her. This is where I began to fall in love with Crossfit, and we switched gyms to Titan two years ago, where I continue doing what I love and enjoy. I am grateful for every day I am able to workout and that Christine introduced me to it.
Why do you continue to CrossFit?
I love the community, how supportive everyone is, and how fun each class is. I also love that each workout is different. No two workouts of the week are the same which adds variety and keeps it from feeling repetitive. Just one Crossfit class gives you a great workout in just an hour. I always feel better after the workouts than I did before.
Describe how your attitude towards health and fitness has evolved since you began your journey.
Your body is capable of more than you think, and you are stronger than you realize. There are times when others push me to lift more weight or try something different in a workout that I normally wouldn’t attempt. They know I can do it, and I end up doing it just fine. Everyone is so encouraging and pushes each other because we know we’re capable. This has helped me realize I can do a lot more, both inside and outside the gym.
Share a memorable CrossFit moment that makes you laugh or puts a smile on your face.
Every time I get a PR or perform better in a workout than I expected, it makes me smile. The Open was also a memorable experience that brought everyone together and was really fun. It always puts a smile on my face when everyone cheers each other on and encourages each other. Another moment that makes me smile is when Christine and I go to open gym and end up doing two workouts in one day. Since I work 12 hour shifts, 7am-7pm, I can’t always go to the gym as often as I would like. Recently, I’ve been going to open gym and then the noon class. It’s always more fun when we can go together.
What are you proud of and why?
Something I’m proud of is participating in the Open as the 2026 Open was my first one. Each workout included weights that I had either never used before or hadn’t used consistently yet. This made me nervous, but I was able to do each workout Rx. I was proud of how much I pushed myself and that I performed better than I expected.
What's your advice for other CrossFitters or people looking to start?
Don’t be afraid to start because you are stronger than you think. Some of the movements can seem scary or intimidating, but your body is capable of more than you realize. Don’t be afraid to scale movements or weights and make the workout your own. Stay consistent and have fun!
Why the coaches chose Grace as Titan of the Month:
Grace has truly become a powerhouse of self-improvement, consistently increasing her confidence in both her athletic skills and her physical strength. It's inspiring to watch her readily accept encouragement from her friends and coaches, using that support as fuel to tackle new workout variations that were previously outside her comfort zone. This willingness to embrace new challenges, especially as she ventures into more complex movements or heavier weights, highlights her remarkable growth mindset.
Her commitment to her own fitness journey is unwavering, mirroring the dedication she shows to her patients in her professional life as a nurse. Just as she cares for others with diligence and focus, she applies that same level of responsibility and consistency to her own well-being and training. This parallel commitment is a testament to her disciplined and caring nature.
Within the class, Grace is an invaluable and supportive member of the community. She consistently arrives with a positive attitude, ready to learn, and always prepared to put in the hard work. Due to her work schedule, she often doubles up on her workouts when time allows. Whether she has a training partner or is working solo, Grace uses that extra time to solidify her progress. What's perhaps most remarkable is that she always manages to have a genuine smile on her face—a true reflection of her positive spirit. Her consistent presence and cheerful demeanor elevate the energy of everyone around her.
