Hey everyone, it’s Lisa! I’m a wife, proud mom to a kind-hearted, adventurous 15 year old son and a lovable — though slightly needy — 5 year old Aussie.
I’ve been with UPS for 30 years, working in the IT sector as a Lead Software Quality Engineer. I truly enjoy the people I work with… but I’m definitely counting down the days to retirement!
I love to travel — whether it’s Europe, the Caribbean, or anywhere in the U.S. — as long as it’s not too cold, I’m in!
In my downtime, I actually enjoy yard work and taking long walks with my pup — oh yes, and traveling.
What led you to try CrossFit?
I’ve always been an active person — my mom still says I can’t sit still! Even as a kid, I was constantly on the go — swimming, biking or just about anything to be outside. Later, as an adult, I joined a local gym and stuck with it for over 20 years. It was perfect to go at lunchtime or after work, especially with a few friends/co-workers who kept each other motivated. I looked forward to those workouts, though at that time most of my focus was on cardio rather than strength training. I also stayed active during visits to Arizona, where I’d go biking or hiking with friends whenever I could. After my son was born, though, regular exercise took a backseat. He became my priority, and my work responsibilities kept growing. Over time, I gained weight and started feeling sluggish — physically and mentally. I just wasn’t happy with how I felt or looked. Then one of my best friends told me about a CrossFit gym he’d joined in PA and how much he loved it. I had never heard of CrossFit before, but I needed to do something new for me, so I started checking out a few local places — and that’s how I found Titan. So glad I did!
Why do you continue to CrossFit?
Right away, I loved the sense of community. Everyone was so welcoming and supportive. The instructors are amazing — they're so knowledgeable and always take time to make sure you're moving safely and correctly.
It took me a little while to get used to all the CrossFit lingo — honestly, I still give a blank stare when I hear some of it! LOL! But it didn’t take long to feel like I belonged.
I continue to go to CrossFit because it’s more than just a workout — it’s a lifestyle shift that has completely changed how I feel, inside and out. Physically, I feel stronger, more energized, and more capable than I have in years. Mentally, it gives me the reset I need after long stressful work days. Every workout is a new challenge, and that keeps it interesting. I love seeing my progress over time — lifting heavier, moving faster, doing things I never thought I could. It reminds me that age is just a number, and strength isn’t just physical — it’s confidence, resilience, and showing up just for me. CrossFit has become something I truly look forward to — especially with the fun folks in the 6:30pm classes!
Describe how your attitude towards health and fitness has evolved since you began your journey.
Before starting CrossFit, I had never even touched a barbell — and pushups or pullups weren't even on my radar! But since I started my CrossFit journey, my attitude has completely shifted. It's no longer just about my weight or appearance — it's about feeling stronger and trying new things. I feel more energized and I must admit — those aches and pains that used to bother me have pretty much disappeared! I've learned to focus on what my body can do, not just how I look or what the scale reads. Strength and mobility matter so much more to me now and I truly care about taking care of myself in a more balanced and sustainable way.
Share a memorable CrossFit moment that makes you laugh or puts a smile on your face.
The 6:30pm classes always put a smile on my face. The people and instructors are truly awesome — supportive, fun and always cheering each other on. Lately, I've been quietly sneaking into the back for Open Gym on Sunday's, but Lance never lets me stay hidden for long! He always calls me out to join his calls but honestly that sense of being included and encouraged is what makes Titan CrossFit such a great place!
What are you proud of and why?
I had always been afraid of box jumps and stuck with step-ups instead. But one day, I finally felt confident enough to try a 6” soft box. Within about a month, I was jumping onto a 20” box! I’m not sure who was more proud — me or Randi!
What's your advice for other CrossFitters or people looking to start?
My advice to anyone thinking about joining CrossFit: Just give it a try and then stick with it! You’ll be amazed at what your body can do, and you’ll feel so proud of your progress. As we get older, building strength becomes just as important as cardio — and I promise, you’ll feel so much better for it!
