Tommy Stabile, Titan of the Month, August 2025

I’m Tommy — I grew up in Lutherville, MD and played sports all through school. I went to Calvert Hall for high school and James Madison for college. These days, I work as a Senior Account Manager at Kelly Benefits, where I help employers build strong benefits packages for their teams. Outside of work, you can usually find me working out, at the beach, surfing, throwing the ball for my dog, or hanging with friends.

What led you to try CrossFit?

After playing sports my whole life, I really missed the competitive intensity and structure that came with being part of a team. I had been doing the standard gym routine for years, but it eventually got repetitive and boring. I decided to give CrossFit a try last year, and I was immediately hooked. It brought back that feeling of competition that I was looking for.

Why do you continue to CrossFit?

Because I genuinely enjoy the grind and the process of trying to perfect new skills. There’s always something to improve — whether it’s technique, strength, or endurance — and that keeps me motivated. On top of that, the community at Titan is awesome. It feels like being part of a team again!

Describe how your attitude towards health and fitness has evolved since you began your journey.

Fitness has always been a big part of my life. Both of my parents played sports, so from an early age, it was something that was instilled in me. I’ve been active for as long as I can remember and naturally gravitate toward new and challenging workouts to keep things fresh. After college, I decided to dedicate two years to training for and completing an Ironman Triathlon for the challenge. Once that was behind me, I was looking for the next thing, and that’s when I found CrossFit. It immediately felt like the right fit. CrossFit requires serious dedication, but what I love most is that it doesn’t have just one singular focus — it makes you a more well-rounded athlete and person. It’s the kind of training that keeps evolving with you.

Share a memorable CrossFit moment that makes you laugh or puts a smile on your face.

The Christmas team event. Joe DiPeso and I were on the same team and I was on a push sled that Joe was dragging. I fell off and since Joe and I are so competitive he kept pulling and just dragged my body in an ugly Christmas sweater across the floor. Good times.

What are you proud of and why?

Never missing a single day of training for 2 years leading up to the Ironman. The grind is the best part.

What's your advice for other CrossFitters or people looking to start?

Take the plunge. Stay humble and learn the movements safely and get better each day. Legs feed the wolf.
